The Income Tax Department on September 28 searched 12 Mumbai premises linked to actor Rakul Preet Singh, producer Vashu Bhagnani, Pooja Entertainment and Panorama Studios, reports said. The operation began in the morning.

The probe is into alleged tax evasion through overseas remittances made under the guise of foreign location shoots, international production expenses and overseas distribution rights. No figures have been disclosed so far.

The searches were first reported by India Today and were executed by the Mumbai IT division. No formal statement has been issued by the authorities yet.

Rakul Preet Singh is married to actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani, the son of Vashu Bhagnani. Reports also named filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar’s office and Drishyam 3 producer Kumar Mangat Pathak’s premises.
