Hanuman Ansh crosses 80 lakh BookMyShow tickets
A small devotional film keeps breaking records. Hanuman Ansh has crossed 80 lakh ticket sales on BookMyShow.
That puts it eighth among the biggest Bollywood films on the platform. Few predicted this when it opened on August 7.
The film was made on a budget of about Rs 2 crore. It opened on just 250 screens. It was cut to around 40 screens in its second week.
Nine weekends later, its worldwide gross has passed Rs 423 crore. Its ninth weekend alone added over Rs 7 crore.
On day 60, it earned Rs 0.75 crore. That ended a remarkable 41-day streak of Rs 1 crore-plus days.
The film is a spiritual drama. It was written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi. It released in Hindi and Telugu with a devotional story set around Lord Hanuman’s legacy.
Its run shows the power of word of mouth. A film with no big star has outlasted big-budget releases through the festive season.
