Drishyam 3 writer needed 100-plus drafts for the ending

The writer of Drishyam: The Conclusion has revealed he went through more than 100 drafts to get the franchise’s ending right.
Aamil Keeyan Khan, who co-wrote the film with director Abhishek Pathak and Parveez Shaikh, said the task was an enormous mountain to climb. He joked that his files were eventually named things like “FINAL”, “FINAL 2” and “FINAL PLEASE GOD”.
Unlike the first two Hindi films, which were adapted from Malayalam originals, the third film needed an original story. Khan said the challenge was to surprise the audience a third time while keeping the franchise’s DNA.
He also revealed that people around him, including actors and crew, tried to bribe him for the ending. He refused, joking that he stayed honest like Gaitonde, the corrupt cop character from the series.
The film, starring Ajay Devgn, released on October 2 and has already crossed the lifetime collection of the first film. It is racing toward Rs 300 crore worldwide.
