Dhurandhar 2 Music Submitted for Grammys in 9 Categories
The soundtrack of Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar: The Revenge, composed by Shashwat Sachdev, has been submitted for Grammy consideration across nine categories at the 69th Annual Grammy Awards, scheduled for February 7. T-Series and B62 Studios announced the campaign via social media on Friday.
The full soundtrack album has been entered for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media, with individual songs submitted across separate categories. ‘Phir Se’, featuring vocals by Arijit Singh, is listed under Best Song Written for Visual Media. ‘Aari Aari’ — featuring Bombay Rockers, Khan Saab, Jasmine Sandlas, Reble, Token and Sudhir Yaduvanshi — has been submitted under Best Asian Pop Music Performance. ‘Jaan Se Guzarte Hai’ and ‘Kanhaiyya’ are entered under Best Global Music Performance.
The nine categories
The remaining entries: ‘Jaiye Sajana’, featuring Jasmine Sandlas and Satinder Sartaaj, under Best Pop Duo/Group Performance; ‘Destiny – Mann Atkeya’ under Best Rap Performance; ‘Vaari Jaavan’ under Best Dance/Electronic Recording; and ‘Hum Pyaar Karne Wale’ under Best Remixed Recording.
It is important to note what this means: being submitted for Grammy consideration means the music has been formally entered into the Recording Academy’s eligibility process — it does not mean the songs or album have been nominated. Entries must first meet eligibility requirements and then pass through a multi-round voting process in which Recording Academy members evaluate the submissions before final nominations are announced.
Spotlight on the new Asian Pop category
The most notable submission is ‘Aari Aari’ under Best Asian Pop Music Performance, one of five new categories introduced at the 69th Grammys across Latin, Asian Pop and R&B genres. The category reflects the growing global commercial and cultural influence of Asian pop music, driven primarily by K-pop but increasingly encompassing J-pop, Southeast Asian pop and potentially Indian film music. Since the category is brand new, there is no precedent for what Academy voters will favour.
The campaign adds an international dimension to a franchise that has already made history — the two-part franchise earned Rs 3,120 crore worldwide, per Sacnilk. In an earlier post, Aditya Dhar revealed the astonishing pace of the music: 9 songs in 9 days for Part 1, and 14 songs in just 11 days for Part 2. Both albums, released within three months of each other, reached top global charts.
