Dhanush begins shooting for D56 in Madurai

Dhanush's 56th film, tentatively titled D56, went on floors on September 25 with a traditional pooja ceremony in Madurai, where the first schedule is underway.
The film is directed by Tamizharasan Pachamuthu, who made his mark with the sports drama 'Lubber Pandhu'. The cast includes Vadivelu, SJ Suryah, Vijay B Kumar and Preity Mukundhan, with music by Sai Abhyankkar. It is produced by Sithara Entertainments, Srikara Studios and Primark Productions, and is targeting a summer 2027 release.
Trade reports peg the film's budget at around 126 crore rupees, making it one of Dhanush's biggest productions, though the makers have not confirmed the figure. Plot details remain under wraps.
Vadivelu, reuniting with Dhanush after a long gap, recently spoke about his excitement for the project. The film's launch also clarified Dhanush's slate: he pushed his other project 'OM: Chapter One' out of respect for Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2', releasing October 15, and Suriya's 'Scene', arriving this Diwali. Shooting is expected to continue in and around Madurai over the coming weeks.
