Bethlehem Kudumba Unit sets streaming weekend record

Nivin Pauly’s romantic comedy Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has become the most-watched non-Hindi film in its opening streaming weekend, according to Ormax StreamView data.
The film, which began streaming on JioHotstar from October 2 to 4, topped the platform’s viewership charts for a non-Hindi title. The same Ormax report gave the film an OPR score of 92, the highest audience approval for any theatrical film of 2026 across languages.
The Girish A D directorial continues its dream run. Released on August 21 during Onam, it has grossed nearly Rs 330 crore worldwide and became only the third Malayalam film to cross five million tickets on BookMyShow.
Starring Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, the film was the first Kerala film to cross Rs 150 crore within the state. Its success underscores the growing national appetite for Malayalam cinema beyond traditional markets.
The streaming record caps a remarkable year for the industry, with the film joining a select club of Malayalam blockbusters that have found audiences across India.
