Disney's re-release of Avengers: Endgame topped the domestic box office with $26 million. The new Encore cut opened in 3,060 theaters and pushed the film's lifetime domestic total past $884 million.

Sony's Resident Evil held second place with $23.3 million in its second weekend, a drop of 61 percent, taking its total past $103 million. Paramount's Heart of the Beast, starring Brad Pitt as a veteran surviving the Alaskan wilderness with his dog, opened third with $20 million from 3,435 theaters.

A24's Primetime opened fourth with $19.2 million from 2,863 theaters, just behind Heart of the Beast. Universal's Forgotten Island rounded out the top five with $12.8 million on its debut weekend.

Four films entered the top five at once, a first for 2026. The strong weekend produced one of the biggest late-September totals on record at about $122 million, behind only 2015. The Avengers re-release also added $86 million worldwide.
