The Central Board of Secondary Education is yet to release the Class 10 and 12 board examination timetable for 2027. Students are advised to check the official CBSE website — cbse.gov.in — and its examination-circulars page for the date-sheet PDF, and to avoid relying on unverified social media posts or unofficial claims.

Going by the previous cycle, the wait may not be long: for the 2026 examinations, CBSE published a tentative date sheet on September 24, 2025, followed by the final version on October 30, 2025. Once published, the schedule is expected to include tentative board examination dates, subject-wise dates for Classes 10 and 12, the theory examination commencement date, the practical or internal-assessment schedule, exam timings and reporting time, and the date-sheet PDF download link.

Key processes already underway

Several steps in the 2027 examination cycle are already in motion. CBSE started the List of Candidates (LOC) submission for Class 10 and 12 board examinations on September 24; schools can submit LOC data through the official portal till October 21 without a late fee.

The board has also opened application forms for Class 10 and 12 private candidates from October 8, 2026. CBSE has announced it will conduct the Class 10 and 12 board examinations in February, March and April 2027. Eligible private candidates include those placed in the ‘Essential Repeat’ category in 2026, second-chance compartment candidates, and students declared fail or essential repeat in recent years.

Two board exams for Class 10

The second board examination was introduced from the 2026 academic session in line with the National Education Policy 2020. CBSE will now conduct two board examinations for Class 10 every year, giving eligible students an additional opportunity to improve performance in up to three subjects during the second examination.

For reference, the Class 10 main board examination in 2026 was held from February 17 to March 11, with the second examination conducted from May 15 to May 21. Sample question papers and designs for standard and basic level Mathematics are available on cbseacademic.nic.in.

How to download the date sheet

Once CBSE publishes the timetable, students can visit cbse.gov.in, open the examination-circulars or latest-notice section, locate the notification mentioning the Class 10 and 12 Board Examinations 2027, and open the official PDF. Students should check the class, subject code, subject name, examination date and timing, then download and save the PDF for reference.

The board has also clarified common queries: marks obtained in pre-board examinations are not included in board examination marks, and the use of whitener is not permitted. Teachers across the country have welcomed the introduction of On-Screen Marking for Class 12 answer-book evaluation, CBSE said in a public notice.
