Reliance eyes Rs 10,000 crore bond sale; UPI MDR stays with merchants

Reliance Industries plans to raise Rs 10,000 crore through 10-year rupee bonds at a coupon of 7.90 percent, four merchant bankers told Reuters. The company will invite bids over the next two weeks.
The sale follows a Rs 12,000 crore five-year bond issue two weeks ago. The new tranche would take Reliance's outstanding bonds to Rs 54,000 crore. The company wants to finish borrowing before the RBI's October 7 policy meeting.
On UPI payments, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the new 0.4 percent MDR on select high-value transactions will be paid by merchants, not consumers. It applies from October 15 to merchant payments above Rs 2,000.
Meanwhile, the UP International Trade Show opened on September 25 at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida. Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the event with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, with buyers from 88 countries expected to take part.
Big firms are rushing to borrow before the RBI's October 7 decision. The trade show runs until September 29.
