Marico pays Rs 1,012 cr for extra 24.09% of Plix parent

Marico has paid Rs 1,012.03 crore for an additional 24.09 per cent stake in Satiya Nutraceuticals, the parent company of plant-based nutrition brand Plix.

The acquisition, completed on October 5, takes Marico’s holding in Satiya to 84.09 per cent on a fully diluted basis. The total consideration paid so far stands at Rs 1,392.07 crore.

Marico still has the option to acquire the residual 14.09 per cent stake in July 2027, at a base price of up to Rs 592 crore plus milestone-linked payments.

The deal marks a deepening of Marico’s bet on the digital-first nutrition segment. Plix, which sells plant-based protein powders, gummies and hair supplements, has grown rapidly since its launch. Its turnover jumped to Rs 864.31 crore in FY26 from Rs 432.84 crore in FY25, nearly doubling in a single year.

Marico first invested in Satiya in 2023 and has been increasing its stake in tranches. The company said the brand fits its foods and nutrition strategy. Shares of Marico slipped in early trade on Thursday as investors weighed the hefty price against Plix’s strong growth.
