L&T bags mega power transmission orders in India, Saudi, UAE

Larsen & Toubro’s Power Transmission and Distribution business has won multiple EPC orders in India, Saudi Arabia and the UAE. The company announced the wins on October 5 through an exchange filing signed by Company Secretary Subramanian Narayan.
Each order falls in L&T’s ‘mega’ category. That means every contract is worth between Rs 10,000 crore and Rs 15,000 crore. The filing did not give exact values or project timelines.
In Saudi Arabia, the orders cover 380 kV transmission lines and substations. In the UAE, L&T will build 132/11 kV substations with cabling works. In India, it will set up a transmission system in Visakhapatnam for a private developer.
The projects will strengthen grids and help carry renewable energy. Joji Sebastian, Executive Vice President and Head of PT&D, said the wins show the company’s engineering strength across geographies.
L&T shares jumped to an intraday high of Rs 3,744.90 on the BSE on Monday. They closed around Rs 3,725.95, up about 1 per cent. The orders add to a strong pipeline in the power sector.
