India-New Zealand Trade Deal Takes Effect on October 20

The India-New Zealand trade agreement will come into force on October 20, opening a new chapter in economic ties between the two countries.
The deal is expected to cut tariffs and ease market access for exporters on both sides. Businesses have been waiting for the start date to plan shipments.
For India, the agreement adds another partner to its growing network of trade pacts. New Zealand is a key supplier of dairy, timber and farm goods.
Indian exporters of textiles, pharma and engineering goods see fresh openings in the New Zealand market. Services trade is also part of the push.
Trade officials say the agreement will be reviewed regularly to widen its coverage. Early gains are expected in agriculture and processed foods.
Companies on both sides are advised to check the tariff schedules that apply from October 20.
The deal also signals India’s steady push to sign trade pacts with developed economies. Each new agreement plugs Indian exporters into fresh supply chains.
