September GST Collection Rises 14.7% to Rs 2.04 Lakh Crore

India’s gross GST collection rose 14.7 per cent year-on-year to Rs 2,03,521 crore in September, official data released on Thursday showed.
Collections stayed above the Rs 2 lakh crore mark for the third straight month. It was the highest monthly growth in five months, according to government data.
Central GST stood at Rs 37,762 crore, state GST at Rs 45,363 crore and integrated GST at Rs 1,20,396 crore during the month.
Revenue from imports led the surge, jumping 25.9 per cent to Rs 65,525 crore. Domestic GST revenue grew 10.1 per cent to Rs 1.38 lakh crore, signalling steady festive-season demand and better compliance.
After refunds, net GST revenue rose 18.1 per cent to Rs 1,76,520 crore. Total refunds stood at Rs 27,001 crore, down 3 per cent from a year earlier.
For the first half of this fiscal year, gross collections reached Rs 12.46 lakh crore, up 11.6 per cent. Maharashtra remained the largest contributor at Rs 29,986 crore, up 15 per cent.
Officials said the October 7 GST Council meeting will focus on process reforms rather than major rate changes.
