GST Collection Up 14.7% to Rs 2.03 Lakh Crore

India’s gross Goods and Services Tax collection rose 14.7 per cent in September to over Rs 2.03 lakh crore, government data released on Thursday showed.
Gross GST stood at Rs 2,03,521 crore in September 2026, compared with Rs 1,77,365 crore in September 2025. The collections reflect transactions undertaken in August. Net revenue after refunds surged 18.1 per cent to Rs 1,76,520 crore.
Domestic GST revenue grew 10.1 per cent to Rs 1,37,996 crore, while import-linked GST revenue surged 25.9 per cent to Rs 65,525 crore, reported The Hindu BusinessLine quoting PTI.
Refunds fell 3 per cent to Rs 27,001 crore. During the first half of the fiscal (April-September), gross GST collection grew 11.6 per cent to over Rs 12.46 lakh crore.
Experts said the sharp rise in import-linked revenue partly explains the headline buoyancy. “It is interesting to see that domestic revenues grew 10.1% compared with almost 26% growth in import GST,” said Pratik Jain of Price Waterhouse & Co LLP, suggesting part of the growth came from imports rather than domestic demand.
