Flipkart Seller Base Doubles In 15 Months To 1.4 Million

Flipkart’s active seller base has nearly doubled in the last 15 months, according to senior vice-president Sakait Chaudhary. The marketplace now has around 1.4 million sellers.
The company said seller numbers rose 62 per cent year-on-year. It credited the zero-commission model, simplified onboarding and AI-led tools that help sellers improve selection, pricing and catalogues.
The zero-commission model was introduced in November 2025 and later expanded across the entire fashion category. Flipkart recently extended it to all fashion products, removing the Rs 1,000 price ceiling.
Gujarat is among the strongest growth markets for new sellers. Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Assam and Tripura are also growing fast. Surat has emerged as the second-largest new-seller hub after New Delhi, with over 70 per cent growth.
Flipkart also said transacting sellers rose about 25 per cent over the past six months ahead of the festive season, with seller businesses growing roughly 30 per cent in the quarter through August.
