Canpotex Puts CA$500M Into Vancouver Potash Terminal

Canpotex has announced a CA$500 million investment in Neptune Bulk Terminals at the Port of Vancouver, a major expansion of Canada’s potash export infrastructure.
The announcement, made on September 25, 2026, will fund new capacity at one of the country’s key bulk export terminals. Canpotex is the export arm for Saskatchewan’s potash producers, and the investment is aimed at moving more of the mineral to overseas markets.
Saskatchewan’s government welcomed the move, saying it will unlock more export opportunities for the province’s potash sector. Canada is one of the world’s largest potash producers, and the mineral is a critical ingredient in fertilisers.
The project is expected to create construction jobs and long-term operational work at the terminal, with completion timelines to be confirmed.
The upgrade is part of a broader push by Canadian exporters to strengthen supply chains after years of port congestion. Neptune Bulk Terminals already handles large volumes of potash, coal and other commodities, and the new funding will add dedicated capacity for the mineral. Industry analysts say demand for potash is expected to grow as farmers seek to raise crop yields worldwide.
