Haryana FPO Ships 24 Tonnes of Frozen Food to Canada

India has shipped 24 metric tonnes of frozen food products from Sonipat in Haryana to Canada. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority, or APEDA, facilitated the consignment. The Commerce Ministry announced it on Friday.

The Farmer Producer Organisation-led consignment was exported by Aterna Foods Producer Company Limited. It comprises 2,295 boxes of frozen food products valued at 35,140 Canadian dollars. The shipment was flagged off on October 1.

The products include green peas, mixed vegetables, peas and carrots, sweet corn and samosa. The exporting unit was supported by APEDA under its Financial Assistance Scheme.

APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev flagged off the consignment. He said the direct export by the FPO would significantly improve value realisation for producers. He also acknowledged the contribution of the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management.

The export highlights the growing role of FPOs in building export-oriented value chains. By linking farm produce with processing and international markets, the model helps farmers reach global buyers. It also signals expanding agricultural trade ties between India and Canada under Prime Minister Mark Carney’s government.
