A slow-moving nor’easter battered the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast over September 26-27, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, dangerous surf, and repeated tidal flooding from New Jersey to New England. A 56-year-old New York City Housing Authority employee was killed Saturday, September 26, when a tree fell in a Brooklyn parking lot. National Weather Service lead forecaster Bob Oravec said the storm remained just south of Long Island on Sunday morning and was expected to linger about 24 more hours while gradually weakening. “The most impactful parts of the storm are likely going to be the high winds and the tidal flooding,” he said.
