Mumbai Airport To Cut 265 Weekly International Slots From Oct 25

Mumbai International Airport will reduce 265 weekly international flight slots from October 25, 2026. Terminal 1 will close for redevelopment until 2029-30. The move was reported on October 2.
The redevelopment is part of a long-term plan for the airport. Some operations may shift to the Navi Mumbai International Airport. Passengers should check their flight schedules as the date nears.
In a related move, a 75-day mega block at Mumbai CSMT station will start on October 25. Eight express trains will be diverted to Dadar and Thane during the block. Commuters should plan for longer travel times.
The changes will affect both air and rail travellers in the festive season. Airlines will need to adjust their schedules to the reduced slots. The airport operator says the revamp will improve capacity in the long run. International airlines operating from Mumbai will feel the pinch first. Some flights may move to other airports during the revamp. The Navi Mumbai airport is expected to take some of the load. Airport officials say detailed slot plans will be shared with airlines soon. The closure of Terminal 1 marks the start of a long modernisation phase. Passengers should verify their terminal before leaving home.
