IMD Rain Alert for 10+ States, Snow Likely in J&K Heights

The India Meteorological Department has forecast rain and thunderstorms across more than 10 states over the next few days, even as the monsoon withdraws.
A cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal and a western disturbance over the north are driving the active weather. The IMD gave a nil probability of these systems becoming a depression.
The western Himalayan region will see intermittent rain through October 10. Higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, including Anantnag, Pulwama and Doda, could get light snowfall.
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may see light to moderate rain with gusty winds. Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh could get scattered rain with thunderstorms around October 10.
Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal face another wet spell, while Kerala and Tamil Nadu may see heavy rain. The northeast will see rainfall intensity reduce gradually.
Rainfall is also expected to continue across parts of Madhya Pradesh until October 9 and Chhattisgarh until October 10. Vidarbha in Maharashtra may see rain through October 8.
In the northeast, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh are likely to see a gradual reduction in rainfall intensity.
