Houthi Missile Strikes Kill 3 at Riyadh Airport, Flights Disrupted

Houthi missile strikes on Riyadh’s main airport killed three people on Thursday, Saudi authorities said. The attacks hit King Khalid International Airport and injured several others.
Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority said the three dead were Saudi nationals. One of them was a pilot with Saudia, the national airline. An initial swarm of missiles hit airport facilities. A second strike set a Saudi passenger jet on fire.
The Houthis claimed the attacks. Their spokesman Brig Gen Yahya Saree said forces used cruise and ballistic missiles. He also claimed strikes on Najran airport and the Khamis Mushait air base.
Saudi air defences said they intercepted two ballistic missiles aimed at Riyadh. Debris from the intercepts damaged a kindergarten and a medical clinic.
Flight operations returned to normal on Friday. But Lufthansa Group, Air India and two other carriers suspended flights to the Saudi capital. The EU’s aviation safety agency widened its airspace advisory for Saudi Arabia.
Saudi airstrikes hit Houthi targets in the Yemeni capital Sanaa overnight. A Saudi-led coalition said it destroyed three Houthi missile launch platforms and would respond firmly to attacks on civilians.
