James Cody Bryant, a resident of Bellingham, Washington, has been charged as part of the investigation into the Tumbler Ridge school shooting in British Columbia. The case was reported by CNN, ABC News, Firstpost and the Hindustan Times.

Officials say Bryant conspired with the Canadian school shooter before the attack and provided financial support. The charges were announced on Tuesday.

Bryant is the American suspect arrested in connection with the deadly shooting. Authorities allege he encouraged the shooter in the days leading up to the attack.

The case is being handled by US federal officials, and Bryant remains in custody. Investigators in Canada and the United States are continuing to share evidence.

The shooting devastated the small town of Tumbler Ridge. Court proceedings are expected in the coming days as prosecutors build their case against Bryant.

Bryant lived just across the border in Bellingham, Washington. Prosecutors say digital messages link him to the shooter’s planning.
