Instinct brings its AI agent to group chats at $10bn valuation

Instinct has launched a group-chat feature for its AI agent. The announcement came on Monday. Early access users can now add Instinct to group chats.
The agent works for the whole group. It can help with travel planning and event tickets. It can run fantasy leagues. It can organise carpools. It can manage who brings what to Thanksgiving.
The chats work even if friends do not have an Instinct account. That could help the product spread quickly.
Founder Noah Shinn said the agent handles privacy through permission. A user’s personal agent asks before connecting to the group’s agent. Users can choose which groups to trust. They can remove that trust at any time.
Instinct raised $1 billion in a Series C in September. The round valued the startup at $10 billion. Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Coatue led it. That was about four times its $2.5 billion Series B valuation a month earlier.
Instinct runs entirely over SMS. It has its own phone number and computer to act for users. It can call businesses, pay bills and cancel subscriptions. The company competes with Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s ChatGPT Dots.
