AI Lab Launches Quantum-Safe Content Identity Protocol

The AI Lab has publicly released its Trust Identity Protocol (TIP), a quantum-safe standard for proving content authenticity, warning that AI has cut the time to prepare for quantum computing from about 20 years to two.

Announced on October 5, TIP lets journalists, filmmakers and creators prove their work is theirs and unaltered, with tags built for the post-quantum era and recorded on a decentralised ledger. Each signed item carries an origin code: OH for original human, AA for AI-assisted, or AG for AI-generated.

The lab says AI-driven advances in quantum research have collapsed the timeline: Google set 2029 as its own deadline to move to post-quantum cryptography. The signatures are post-quantum secure under FIPS 203, 204 and 205 standards.

The protocol is free for individuals, small businesses, nonprofits, schools, governments and journalism, with commercial tiers from $500 to $550,000 a year.

“The internet is sliding toward an era where nobody can confidently attribute anything,” said founder Dinesh Mendhe. “A hashtag alone is a claim. A TIP-ID makes the claim provable.” The lab pairs the protocol with its public #HumanOrAI campaign for content authenticity. The launch follows the EU AI Act’s Article 50, which mandates disclosure of AI-generated content from August 2026.
