The Social Reckoning releases in India on October 9

The Social Reckoning, the much-awaited follow-up to The Social Network, will release in India on October 9 in English. The film continues the story of Facebook’s rise and the controversies that followed.
Written by Aaron Sorkin, the new film draws on reporting about the company’s internal troubles, including the famous “Facebook Files” investigations. It looks at how the world’s biggest social network dealt with questions about privacy, misinformation and power.
The original 2010 film won three Oscars and is counted among the best films of its decade. Expectations are high for the sequel, which arrives at a time when debates about social media’s role in society are louder than ever.
Trade watchers will be watching the box office closely. A strong opening could prove that audiences are still hungry for smart, dialogue-driven dramas in the age of big spectacles. The film’s India release in English means it will play mainly in metro multiplexes, where the original found its most loyal audience.
