Ratnayake takes T20I wickets with both arms, a first

Sri Lanka’s Tharindu Ratnayake has become the first bowler to take T20I wickets with both arms. He achieved the feat against India in the Asian Games semi-final on October 1.
The ambidextrous spinner dismissed Sanju Samson with left-arm spin. He later dismissed Shivam Dube with right-arm off spin. He finished with 2 for 32 from four overs.
Ratnayake is also the only bowler to take wickets with both arms in Test cricket. He did it against Bangladesh in 2025.
India won the semi-final by 124 runs. Ishan Kishan’s unbeaten 80 off 46 balls took India to 169 for 7. Sri Lanka were bowled out for 45 in 9.5 overs. It is the joint-lowest total by a full member nation in T20Is.
Jasprit Bumrah took 2 for 7. Axar Patel took 3 for 8. Abhishek Sharma took 2 for 2.
The 124-run margin is the highest in a men’s T20I tournament semi-final or final. It is also India’s 11th win by 100 runs or more in men’s T20Is, a world record.
India face Pakistan in the gold medal match today at 10:00 AM IST.
