India chase 3-0 sweep as West Indies visit new Chandigarh
India will look to complete a 3-0 series sweep when they face the West Indies in the third ODI in New Chandigarh on Saturday.
The match, starting at 2 PM IST, will be the first men’s ODI at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.
India sealed the series with a record chase in Guwahati. Chasing 406, the hosts won by eight wickets with 39 balls to spare. Captain Shubman Gill smashed an unbeaten 223, his second ODI double century, while Rohit Sharma scored 101.
The series has produced eight centuries, four on each side. West Indies posted 405 for 7 in the second ODI, with John Campbell, Shai Hope and Amir Jangoo all reaching hundreds.
India are expected to experiment with the series decided. Prasidh Krishna is out with a hamstring injury, and uncapped Anshul Kamboj has joined the squad. Mohammed Siraj could return, while Jasprit Bumrah is rested.
The ODI series is followed by five T20Is, starting in Lucknow on October 6.
Why it matters: the dead rubber is a testing ground for India’s bench strength ahead of a busy white-ball calendar.
