Salman’s Maatrubhumi Gets Government Nod, Eyes Nov 13

Salman Khan’s long-delayed war drama Maatrubhumi has received a no-objection certificate from the government, according to a Bollywood Hungama report citing a source.
The report says officials of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry are satisfied with the revised version submitted by the makers. The NOC was given last week, clearing the film for public release.
The film was announced as Battle of Galwan and renamed Maatrubhumi earlier this year. It is based on the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. The Defence Ministry had reservations about the content and mentions of China, which caused the delay. The revised version reportedly shows India-China ties in a positive light.
The source said Salman is eyeing November 13, believing the post-Diwali period would suit the film. However, the censor process is still pending. The makers will soon submit the film to the Central Board of Film Certification.
The film stars Salman Khan as Colonel B. Santosh Babu alongside Chitrangda Singh. It is directed by Apoorva Lakhia.
Why it matters: the film has been stuck for months over geopolitical sensitivities. If the CBFC process wraps up this month, it could finally give Salman a 2026 theatrical release.
