Noida’s Supernova Bans Airbnb, Oyo Short Stays

The Supernova Apartment Owners’ Association in Noida’s Sector 94 has banned short-term rentals on Airbnb, Oyo and Booking.com, warning flat owners and tenants of legal action for non-compliance.
The trigger was an incident on Wednesday when short-stay operator Tushar Sharma allegedly rammed his car through a security boom barrier after guards denied him main-gate entry. The Sector 126 police arrested him on Thursday under sections 352 and 324(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for intentional insult and mischief.
AOA representative Naresh K Nandwani said the complex’s three towers share a common campus. Nova East and Nova West, with 582 units, are fully residential, while around 200 flats in Spira Tower are used commercially.
Residents complained of guests arriving and leaving at odd hours, causing nuisance and security risks. The move follows the Uttar Pradesh government’s Bed and Breakfast and Homestay Policy 2025 to formalise guest facilities in residential buildings.
Police reports said the confrontation began when guards denied Sharma entry through the main gate and directed him to the Spira Tower entrance. Sharma, a Sector 15 resident, had argued he needed access to help a guest check in.
