Fake call centre busted in Jaipur, 14 arrested

Jaipur police have busted a fake call centre operating from a rented flat in the city, arresting 14 alleged cyber fraudsters.
The group reportedly defrauded victims by posing as Apple representatives and demanding payments in dollars. The arrests were made on October 1.
Police said the accused ran the operation from a residential flat, using it as a base to target individuals with fake technical-support and refund scams. The impersonation of a major technology brand was central to the fraud.
Investigators are examining the group’s devices, call records and payment trails to identify victims and trace the money flow. Officials said more arrests are possible as the probe widens.
The bust adds to a string of cybercrime crackdowns in Rajasthan. Fake call centres posing as tech support or customer care executives have targeted victims across India and abroad, often demanding payment in foreign currency or gift cards.
Police have advised the public to verify unsolicited calls claiming to be from technology companies and to never share payment details or grant remote access to unknown callers. The accused were being produced before a court for remand.
