Naqvi to skip India-Pakistan Asian Games final

Asian Cricket Council president Mohsin Naqvi will not attend the Asian Games men’s cricket gold medal match between India and Pakistan on Saturday.
The ACC confirmed the absence on Friday. “ACC President, Mr Mohsin Naqvi, will miss Finals Day at Aichi-Nagoya 2026 due to prior commitments,” it said in a social media post.
Naqvi, who is also the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, added his own message. “Commitments will keep me away from Nagoya. But I will be looking forward to some thrilling action,” he said.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia is expected to attend the final, according to RevSportz.
The announcement avoids a possible trophy-ceremony clash. India have refused to take trophies or shake hands with Pakistani officials since the Pahalgam terror attack in 2025.
India’s men refused the Asia Cup trophy from Naqvi in 2025, and the women’s team also declined to accept the Asia Cup trophy from him after winning in the UAE.
