Nobel Week 2026: What to Expect From October 5

The 2026 Nobel Prizes will be announced from October 5, starting with Medicine, followed by Physics on October 6, Chemistry on October 7, Literature on October 8, the Peace Prize on October 9 and Economics on October 12.

This year the winners will receive SEK 12 million, about €1.06 million, after the Nobel Foundation raised the prize money to preserve its value.

Among the most-watched contenders are the GLP-1 pioneers — Jens Juul Holst, Daniel Drucker and Svetlana Mojsov — named on Clarivate’s annual list of Citation Laureates for identifying the gut hormone behind blockbuster weight-loss drugs.

Since the list began, 89 Citation Laureates have gone on to win Nobel Prizes, though Clarivate stresses it does not predict winners. GLP-1 was among the bets last year too.

Last year’s medicine prize went to Brunkow, Ramsdell and Sakaguchi for discoveries about regulatory T cells. All announcements are broadcast live on the Nobel Prize’s official channels, with times listed as “at the earliest” on nobelprize.org.
