Russia Hits Kyiv With Missiles and Jet Drones in Night Blitz

Russia launched a major overnight attack on Kyiv using missiles and jet-propelled drones. Ukrainian officials called it one of the heaviest barrages in recent weeks.
Ukraine's air force said Russia fired 188 drones at Kyiv and other regions through the night. Air defence units worked across the capital to shoot them down.
Explosions were heard across Kyiv in the early hours. Fires broke out in several districts. Emergency crews rushed to the affected areas.
Officials said homes and energy facilities were damaged. Power cuts were reported in parts of the city. Rescue teams searched damaged buildings for survivors.
The attack is part of Russia's continued campaign against Ukrainian cities and power infrastructure. Moscow has stepped up strikes as winter approaches.
Ukraine's leadership again asked Western partners for more air defence systems. Officials say protecting the power grid is now the top priority.
The attack lasted several hours. Air raid sirens sounded across the capital through the night. Residents were urged to stay in shelters until the all-clear was given. Officials said debris from intercepted drones fell in several districts. Schools in the worst-hit areas moved classes online for the day.
