Obsession crosses Rs 100 cr, tops Hollywood charts in India

The psychological thriller Obsession has this week crossed Rs 100 crore gross at the Indian box office, becoming the highest-grossing Hollywood film of 2026 in India. The film overtook Project Hail Mary, whose India net stands at Rs 75.21 crore, while Obsession’s India net has reached Rs 83.96 crore.
What makes the run extraordinary is the budget: the film was reportedly made for just $700,000. Directed by Curry Barker and starring Inde Navarrette and Michael Johnston, the thriller has now grossed around $501.5 million worldwide — one of the most profitable releases in recent memory.
The film’s grassroots success has been driven by strong word of mouth, particularly among young horror audiences in India, where it played strongly across metros and smaller centres alike. Its low-budget, high-concept scares found a sweet spot that bigger studio releases struggled to match this year.
For those who missed it in theatres, Obsession is now available to rent on Prime Video in India for Rs 299. The film’s run is expected to continue adding to its tally through October.
