Tesla delays Roadster reveal to October 15, blames bad weather

Tesla has pushed back the long-awaited reveal of its second-generation Roadster to October 15, blaming severe weather forecast for the outdoor event site near Waco, Texas. The company announced the two-week delay in a post on X on September 28.
The postponement is the latest in a saga of at least seven delays since the Roadster concept was first shown in 2017. Each slip has pushed the electric hypercar further into the future, with production now not expected before 2027 at the earliest.
The reveal is planned as an outdoor spectacle, possibly at SpaceX’s McGregor test facility, where the car is expected to show off its headline feature: a rocket-thruster package using cold-gas thrusters derived from SpaceX technology. Tesla has promised the Roadster will be the quickest production car ever built, with a claimed 0-60 mph time under one second.
Fans have waited nearly a decade since the original 2008 Roadster, Tesla’s first car, left production. Whether the October 15 date holds this time remains to be seen — but with the company’s credibility on timelines already stretched thin, another slip would hardly surprise anyone.
