India bags 60 medals, including 10 gold, at Asian Games 2026

India’s medal tally at the Asian Games 2026 has reached 60, including 10 gold medals, as of Thursday, October 1, according to reports.

The latest golds came in a rush across archery, athletics and shooting. The women’s compound archery team beat China 238-234 to take gold, equalling the world record. Chikitha Taniparthi and Sahil Jadhav won the mixed compound team gold and secured a Los Angeles 2028 Olympics quota.

In athletics, the women’s 4x400m relay team — Kiran, Poovamma, Prachi and Vithya — won India’s first athletics gold of the Games. In shooting, Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai claimed mixed trap team gold with a new Asian Games record of 34 hits.

The women’s cricket team has already defended its title, beating Sri Lanka in the final, while the men’s team plays its semi-final against Sri Lanka on Thursday.

With several finals still to come, including the women’s hockey final, India is pushing to better its all-time best medal haul. The contingent’s depth across archery, shooting, athletics and wrestling has stood out this edition.
