Nagal storms into Asian Games tennis quarter-finals

Sumit Nagal stormed into the men’s singles quarter-finals of the Asian Games on Tuesday, beating Uzbekistan’s Sergey Fomin 6-3, 6-2.
The Indian dominated from the baseline, breaking Fomin’s serve early in both sets to wrap up the match in straight sets. He will next face China’s Wu Yibing for a place in the semi-finals.
With tennis at the Asian Games offering medals from the semi-final stage, Nagal is now one win away from securing a podium finish for India.
The 2026 Asian Games tennis competition has seen strong Indian performances across categories. Nagal, India’s top-ranked singles player, is chasing his first Asian Games medal and will carry the country’s hopes into the last-eight clash. A win against Wu would guarantee Nagal at least a bronze, with both losing semi-finalists receiving medals at the Asian Games. Indian tennis fans will be watching closely, as a medal here would cap a strong season for the country’s top singles player.
