Customs officers at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport have seized 10 high-end drones from three Indian passengers, officials said. The drones are valued at over Rs 1.03 crore.

The passengers arrived from Hong Kong via Vietnam on September 25. Officers flagged their baggage during screening and found the drones packed inside, according to officials.

Officials described the seized units as professional and defence-grade drones. Some of the models are capable of flying without GPS support, which has raised security concerns among investigators.

The passengers are being questioned about the source of the drones and their intended use. Customs officials have not yet said whether the flyers will face arrest.

India tightly controls the import of drones, and high-end models need clearances before they can be brought into the country. The seized drones will be examined by technical experts as the investigation continues. The three passengers remain in custody while customs officers complete the questioning.
