India’s perfect ODI record at Barsapara Stadium

India carry a perfect record into the second ODI against West Indies in Guwahati, having won both men’s ODIs played at the Barsapara Stadium.
India’s first match at the venue, in October 2018 against West Indies, produced a classic. Chasing 323, India romped home at 326 for 2 in 42.1 overs, still the highest successful chase at the ground. Rohit Sharma smashed an unbeaten 152 and Virat Kohli made 140.
The second ODI, in January 2023 against Sri Lanka, saw India post 373 for 7, the venue’s highest total, and win by 67 runs. Kohli added 113 while Rohit made 83.
Across eight ODIs at Barsapara, teams batting first and chasing have each won four times, with an average first-innings score of 225. Kohli has turned every Guwahati ODI innings into a century, including 105 at the old Nehru Stadium in 2010. West Indies will need to spoil that party to stay alive in the series.
