India Today Conclave South opens in Kochi
The seventh edition of India Today Conclave South opened in Kochi on September 29.
The two-day event is being held at the Grand Hyatt Kochi Bolgatty. Its theme is 'Surging South', focusing on the region's political influence, economic ambitions and cultural strength.
The speaker list includes Keralam Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan, Andhra Pradesh minister Nara Lokesh and Telangana deputy chief minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu. AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao are also attending.
Sessions will cover governance, defence, investment, education and jobs. There are also panels on cinema, culture and social change.
One panel will debate delimitation and whether southern states could lose political power. Another will discuss the Vizhinjam port and India's push to win back transhipment cargo.
The conclave is billed as a premier thought-leadership forum. It brings together leaders from politics, business, defence, culture and sport. Sessions are being streamed live for viewers who cannot attend in person.
