Egypt beat South Sudan 5-0 in their AFCON 2027 qualifier on Monday, with Omar Marmoush scoring twice and Mohamed Salah rested. Mostafa Zico, Ibrahim Adel and Hamza Abdelkarim also found the net.

Morocco continued their strong form with a 2-0 win over Lesotho, played in Bloemfontein, South Africa. Brahim Diaz and Azzedine Ounahi scored in the second half for the Atlas Lions.

Senegal edged Ethiopia 1-0 through Ibrahim Mbaye’s early strike, giving new coach Patrick Vieira his first win. The Teranga Lions also kept a clean sheet in Addis Ababa, a solid start for the former Arsenal captain.

Algeria had to fight back from two goals down inside 12 minutes to draw 2-2 in Burundi. Mohamed El Amine Amoura and Amine Gouiri rescued a point for the 2019 champions, who looked shell-shocked early on.

Mozambique beat Sudan 4-1 and Comoros edged Namibia 1-0 in other qualifiers. The race for the finals, co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, continues next month.
