US Stock Futures Edge Up After Monday Sell-Off

US stock futures inched higher on Tuesday morning after major indexes opened the week with losses driven by surging Treasury yields. Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rose about 75 points, or 0.1 percent, while S&P 500 futures added 0.2 percent and Nasdaq 100 futures gained 0.3 percent.
The steadier tone follows a rough Monday in which the Dow fell more than 300 points and the S&P 500 and Nasdaq dropped 0.8 and 0.9 percent. Investors have been rattled by renewed inflation worries, fuelled by the US-Iran standoff that has pushed oil prices higher. President Trump rejected deal talks with Tehran over the weekend, adding to the unease.
The 10-year Treasury yield stood at 5.21 percent early Tuesday, easing from Monday's peak near 5.24 percent, a 19-year high. Oil prices also pulled back after recent gains, offering some relief to inflation expectations.
Investors are now watching fresh US data due Tuesday, including the September consumer confidence reading and August job openings figures. Other market-moving news includes reports that Goldman Sachs is close to naming a successor to CEO David Solomon, and that OpenAI has scrapped the launch of a new model over safety concerns in testing.
