Apple chief executive Tim Cook told President Donald Trump that the iPhone 17 will be manufactured in the United States very soon. The remark came during a White House meeting on September 26.

Cook said the iPhone 17 is the best-selling model of 2026 and that US production would start shortly. He also said Apple plans to announce 13,000 new American jobs soon.

The White House said Apple has committed 600 billion dollars in US investment over four years. Trump had earlier threatened a 25 per cent tariff on iPhones made abroad.

Apple already makes some Mac and chip components in the US, but most iPhones are assembled in China and India. Moving flagship phone production home would be a major shift.

Analysts said the timeline and scale of US iPhone production remain unclear. Labour costs and supply chains make large-scale American assembly a steep challenge for Apple.

The meeting was part of a series of White House sessions with technology leaders this week. Trump has pressed several firms to expand manufacturing and investment inside the United States.
