Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is on an official visit to Qatar from September 27 to 29, 2026. She is leading a Finance Ministry delegation.

She is attending the 11th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank in Doha. The meeting is being held on September 28 and 29.

The theme this year is ‘Tomorrow’s Infrastructure: Impact and Innovation’. Sitharaman is attending as India’s Governor to the AIIB. India is the second-largest shareholder of the bank.

On the sidelines, she is holding bilateral meetings. She will meet the AIIB President and her counterparts from Jordan, Switzerland, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Nepal.

She will also call on the Qatari leadership. She is engaging with Qatari business leaders and investors during the visit. The three-day visit spans September 27 to 29.

The annual meeting brings together Governors from the bank’s member countries. They review the bank’s work and set its direction. This is the 11th edition of the meeting.

India’s role in the bank is significant. It is the second-largest shareholder of the AIIB. Sitharaman attends the meeting in her capacity as India’s Governor.
