Brisbane beat Fremantle 96-89 in the AFL Grand Final at the MCG on 26 September, sealing a third straight premiership. A crowd of 100,023 watched the seven-point thriller.

The Lions kicked four goals in the final five minutes to steal the win. Logan Morris put Brisbane ahead in the final minute and then added the sealer.

Morris and Charlie Cameron combined for six goals in a brilliant forward display. Reuters reported that the win equals the club’s famous 2001-03 dynasty.

Fremantle’s Shai Bolton won the Norm Smith Medal as best on ground, despite finishing on the losing side. It was a brave performance from the Dockers.

Fremantle has now lost two Grand Finals, in 2013 and 2026, without winning a flag. The triumph cements Brisbane as the dominant team of the modern era. The Grand Final is the biggest day on the Australian sporting calendar. The MCG crowd of more than 100,000 created a famous atmosphere for the decider.
