Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will embark on a seven-day visit to the United States from Tuesday, September 29, for trade talks and the G20 Trade Ministers’ meeting.

The visit runs through October 5 and covers Milwaukee and Chicago. A key engagement will be Goyal’s meeting with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer to advance the India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement and work towards an interim deal, in line with the February 7, 2026 joint statement.

Goyal will attend the G20 Trade Ministers’ meeting in Milwaukee on September 30 and October 1, where India is expected to push for a rules-based, open and inclusive global trading framework with the WTO at its core.

He will also meet American CEOs, startup founders and investors, and pay tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekananda in Chicago. The Commerce Ministry said the visit aims to strengthen trade and investment ties.

Goyal said on September 24 that the India-US trade pact was “done and dusted,” awaiting appropriate competitive advantage for Indian exporters. The talks come amid tensions over US measures on Russian-oil purchasers and pending Section 301 investigations.
