Kohli Hits 139*, Becomes Fastest to 15,000 ODI Runs
Virat Kohli produced a batting masterclass in Thiruvananthapuram on September 27, 2026, smashing an unbeaten 139 off 88 balls as India beat West Indies by eight wickets in the first ODI.
Chasing 296, India romped home with 50 balls to spare to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Kohli reached his hundred off just 74 balls and hit nine sixes, a personal best for an ODI innings.
During the knock, the 37-year-old became only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to pass 15,000 ODI runs, and the fastest, reaching the mark in 303 innings against Tendulkar’s 377. It was his 55th ODI century and his 60th in List A cricket, equalling Tendulkar’s record.
Captain Shubman Gill added 110, his 10th ODI hundred, while Kuldeep Yadav’s four wickets had earlier restricted West Indies to 295 for 7. The second ODI gives the visitors a chance to level the series.
