The Mumbai Income Tax Department carried out simultaneous search operations at about 12 locations on Monday, September 28, 2026, at premises linked to actor Rakul Preet Singh, veteran producer Vashu Bhagnani, Panorama Studios and filmmaker Ali Abbas Zafar, according to reports.

The searches are part of a suspected tax evasion probe involving substantial sums allegedly remitted overseas under heads such as film shoots, foreign location shoots, international distribution and production expenses, the reports said. Possible accounting discrepancies and concealment of income are also being examined, though these remain allegations.

Officials are examining documents, financial records, digital records and bank statements. The operations were still underway at the time of reporting, and no final findings or conclusions have been officially announced. Neither Rakul Preet Singh nor Vashu Bhagnani had issued official statements at the time of reporting.

Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment is the father-in-law of Rakul Preet Singh, who married his son, actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani, in 2024. Panorama Studios, led by producer Kumar Mangat Pathak, is producing Drishyam 3. A separate December 2025 Hyderabad drugs case involving her brother Aman Preet Singh is unrelated to these searches, the reports noted.
