Colorado Loses to Baylor 23-13; Sanders Benches QB
Deion Sanders benched starting quarterback Julian Lewis at halftime as Colorado lost 23-13 at Baylor on Saturday, according to USA Today. The Buffaloes fell to 2-2.
Lewis completed 11 of 16 passes for 75 yards in the first half with Colorado trailing 10-3. Utah transfer Isaac Wilson replaced him after the break. Wilson went 12 of 25 for 156 yards and threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Williams.
"It was a decision that I made, because I was trying to get us going," Sanders said. Wilson led a 95-yard drive that tied the game at 13 in the fourth quarter, but Baylor answered with the go-ahead touchdown and a 54-yard field goal.
Baylor quarterback DJ Lagway threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Jadon Porter with 9:02 left to put the Bears ahead for good. Baylor improved to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 play.
Colorado's loss was its second straight after a 41-7 defeat at Northwestern last week. The Buffaloes host No. 11 Texas Tech next.
