Gibbs Hat Trick Powers Lions Past Jets 31-24

Jahmyr Gibbs scored three touchdowns and totaled 164 yards from scrimmage as the Detroit Lions held off the New York Jets 31-24 on Sunday at Ford Field.
Gibbs caught an 11-yard pass from Jared Goff with 2:25 left to break a 24-all tie. It was his third score of the day. Goff completed 25 of 32 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns, according to Reuters.
The Jets rallied from a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit behind Geno Smith. Smith threw touchdown passes on back-to-back fourth-quarter drives and finished with three scores and 321 yards. Garrett Wilson caught 10 passes for 107 yards before leaving the game with an injury.
Detroit sealed the win on defense. Safety Chuck Clark sacked Smith with 42 seconds left and forced a fumble that linebacker Jack Campbell recovered. It was the Jets' first turnover of the game, according to Reuters.
"Gibbs hit another gear once we got him going in the second half," coach Dan Campbell said, per AP. The Lions moved to 2-1. The Jets fell to 1-2, and Detroit visits Carolina for Sunday Night Football next.
